The good news is that more and more of your waste csan be recycled. But it is not always clear what can go in the blue recycle bags and what still has to go to waste.
In blue bags
Food tins and drinks cans
Mixed glass bottles and jars – please rinse out and remove lids
Cartons e.g. Tetra Pak
Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
Aerosol cans – ensure they’re empty and not crushed
Aluminium foil – washed and squashed
Paper and cardboard
Not recycle:
Carrier bags or black bags
Crisp packets or sweet wrappers
Electrical appliances – for small items, use our appliances recycling banks. For larger items, use our bulky items recycling service.
Broken glass
Bubble wrap – please reuse
Film or clingfilm
Food – instead of throwing it out, you could make compost
Hazardous chemical containers
Polystyrene packing or beads
Pyrex
Takeaway coffee cups
