Join in locally!

Come and join our Maida Hill Gardening Action Group (GAG)

We're a small group of locals who enjoy planting around street trees and rejuvenating gardens and public spaces that need help (like the Flamboyan garden, Fernhead Rd; and St Peter's Church, Elgin Ave).  We organised the planters in Maida Hill Market Place - one has a bay tree that we collected from someone offering it on Freecycle!

We'd like to see more planters with flowers along the Harrow Rd and other streets in Maida Hill, as well as more planting around street trees.

We have also worked with Westminster Council's Tree Dept, and Westminster Tree Trust, to site more trees around Maida Hill.

We are proud to have just been awarded a grant from the Genesis Community Fund, to transform the front and side gardens of the Assisted Living flats at 60 Great Western Rd/Hormead Rd.  It's been a bit of a dismal sight as you walk along Great Western Rd from the canal bridge to Harrow Rd (and vice versa).  We've started work - tidying the beds and planting some nasturtiums and other flowers for colour, while we work out a design.

We would love some more people to join us.  You don't need to know anything about gardening!  And if you fancy planting around a street tree near you, we're happy to help.

We would also love it if anyone could help water the trees and flowers in the market planters, there's a hose that can be used.

Volunteer for Time Credits

We all need a little help sometimes, for lots of different things. Our communities are no different, and this is where Time Credits come in.
If you give an hour of your time to your community, your community will say thank you by giving you an hour back to spend on something you like to do.
Everyone’s hour is worth the same and everyone gets thanked. There’s no limit to how many credits you can earn, and the more you earn the more you
can spend.

Earn Time Credits through volunteering in the community and local projects then exchange your Time Credits for Leisure, Entertainment & Services locally! Time credits also give you a second hand stall at Maida Hill Community market

If you want to get involved and lend a helping hand in the community, meet local voluntary organisations and other volunteers already involved. All previous & new volunteers and stall holders need to register for 2015!
